In my research, I explore the effects of sugar and lipid coating of MOFNPs on biocompatibility and catalytic activity on chemical nerve agents. In recent years, interest has arisen in the development of chemical systems that can effectively catalyze the decomposition of the phosphate ester bonds of chemical nerve agents within the body. Catalytically active metal-organic framework nanoparticles (MOFNP) represent a unique avenue toward chemical warfare agent neutralization, however, they are not inherently biocompatible. We explore various methods of tuning biocompatibility of MOFNPs such as coating with biological polymers and lipids, along with changing their size and colloidal stability.
