Research focus:

My work focuses on developing a hierarchical system by confining the synthesis of porous organic polymer (POP) inside mesoporous silica aerogel templates. The well-defined micropores in POPs are suitable for a wide range of applications in catalysis, gas storage and chemical separations. However, the absence of larger pores in these systems can often limit molecular diffusion. Hierarchy of pores in the aerogel-templated POPs has indeed shown faster adsorption of propane compared to its microporous counterpart. Currently we are exploring these materials both in heterogeneous catalysis and chemical separation.
